Eye Exams Mount Dora
Complete Eye Exams for Every Family Member
At Ram Eye Care and Retina Center, we provide eye exams in Mount Dora and the surrounding communities. Dr. Ram appreciates the significance of regular eye check-ups for all ages. Our comprehensive eye exams assess every aspect of your visual and ocular well-being. Not only do these exams help identify vision issues, but they can also reveal underlying health conditions you might not suspect. Many patients find out about issues such as diabetes, high blood pressure, or even cancer through their routine eye exams. Furthermore, your assessment will include screenings for critical conditions like glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy. Your eyesight is an invaluable treasure. Ensure its protection by keeping up with regular eye exams. Contact us today to arrange your visit.
What to bring for your eye examination
Make sure to have your current eyeglasses or contact lenses with you. This will assist us in evaluating whether your prescription needs adjustment. It’s also wise to compile a list of any medications you are currently taking, along with your insurance information and a form of identification. To enhance your visit, jot down any questions or concerns you may have about your eyesight or eye health. Your comfort and care are our utmost concern, and being prepared will help us serve you better.
What is included in a comprehensive eye exam?
When we do a thorough eye examination, we will evaluate the following:
- Coordination and function of the eye muscles
- Peripheral vision
- The ability for the eyes to focus (Accommodative response)
- Visual acuity
- Do you need eyeglasses or contacts?
- Intraocular pressure
- Pupillary response
- Eyelid health & function
- Is there a presence of ocular disease such as “lazy eye” or diabetic eye disease?
- Anterior segment of the eye to include your cornea, conjunctiva, iris, and lens
What to Expect from Your Eye Examination
During your eye examination, we will perform pupil dilation, which is essential for a comprehensive assessment of your eye health. This procedure allows us to closely examine the back of your eye, including the retina and optic nerve. By doing so, we can identify potential issues such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, or diabetic eye disease. It’s important to note that even if you have 20/20 vision, there may still be underlying conditions that could affect your eyesight. Our goal is to prevent any problems that might threaten your vision. Please be aware that dilation can cause temporary blurriness, so we recommend arranging for a friend or family member to drive you home afterward. The effects of dilation typically subside within 2 to 3 hours, and your vision will return to normal.
